Education ministers and their delegations from around the world have arrived in Nadi in preparation for the 20th annual Conference of Commonwealth Education Ministers (20CCEM). Held every three years, CCEM is a high-level series of meetings giving education officials from the 53 Commonwealth countries an opportunity to engage in meaningful dialogue and discuss key education issues and trends-- this year, in the context of climate change.
Fiji has secured significant railway infrastructure development assistance from the Indian Government during Attorney-General and Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum's official visit to the World Sustainable Development Summit held in New Delhi, India from the 15 – 17 February, 2018.

Speaking at the World Sustainable Development Summit in New Delhi, India, Attorney-General and Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum spoke on the urgent need to make greater finance and sustainable development assistance available to promote food security in climate vulnerable nations.
At a meeting in Suva this afternoon, the Attorney-General and Minister for Economy Hon. Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum met with the Japanese Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs, His Excellency Iwao HORII, to discuss the Nadi River flood protection project, among other topics.
The Fiji Bureau of Statistics has completed the 2017 Census and has published detailed and updated statistics on Fiji’s population and population distribution by age, sex and geographical location. The Census also contain statistics on unemployment, financial inclusion and other demographic categories.

In an international show of confidence in the Fijian Government’s sugarcane industry reforms, the Indian Government today presented Prime Minister and Minister for Sugar Voreqe Bainimarama a grant for nearly FJD2.2 million to be earmarked for the purchase of new cane farming machines and equipment.

The Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum has set out Fiji's vision for supporting Fijians affected with albinism at a meeting in Suva with Ms. Ikponwasa Ero, the United Nations Independent Expert on the Enjoyment of Human Rights by Persons with Albinism, on 29 November 2017. At the meeting, they discussed the complexities of albinism, the unique obstacles that are faced by Fijians living with the condition, and solutions to ease their integration into Fijian society.
