Saturday, 26 August 2017: Travel between Labasa and Suva has been made even more affordable, with Fiji Link today releasing its lowest ever fare of just $65 one-way. A third of seats on all flights between Labasa and Suva will be available at $65. Fares will increase to higher fare buckets once the $65 seats are sold out on that respective flight.

Today, we can finally put the disruption of Tropical Cyclone Winston behind us at the Tailevu North College. And I’m delighted to be with you all, and especially our students, as we officially sign off on the work that has been done as part of the government’s cyclone rehabilitation program. The major upgrading of five buildings that lost roofs and walls, and fixing the damage to 23 other buildings at an all-up cost of just over $850,000.

The Fiji Bureau of Statistics (FBOS) has released the preliminary findings of the 2015-2016 Employment and Unemployment Survey that show Fiji’s unemployment rate declined to 5.5 per cent in 2015-2016, down from 7.1 per cent in 2010-2011. The 2015-2016 rate of unemployment is the lowest on record in Fiji over the last 15 years.

The ACP-EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly adopted a special declaration on Climate Change at its 33rd Session held in St Julian’s, Malta on Wednesday 21st June 2017. Fiji played a key instrumental role in bringing this issue on the agenda and having the declaration adopted.
