DEPARTMENT OF INFORMATION - PRINCIPAL INFORMATION OFFICER (FILM AND TELEVISION)

KEY DUTIES:
The position will achieve its purpose through the following key duties:
• Providing effective management and leadership roles in administering the Film and Television unit;
• Leading production team and effective and efficient delivery of the Unit’s Television programs which includes: Nations Business, Back in Time documentaries and any other audio visual program me request from government ministries;
• Guiding the team in producing audio visual programs and documentaries on government policies, plans and activities, highlighting the achievements of various ministries and departments including socio-economic developments in the country;
• Achieving individual targets based on the department’s Business Plan that is linked to the achievement of the Ministry’s Annual Corporate Plan and keep the management updated on results throughout the year;
• Ensuring segment productions are linked to the Ministry’s plans and objectives on scriptwriting, editing, voice-overs, and editorial presentation of programs;
• Providing total financial and resource management support and ensuring the Government information are timely delivered.
• Assisting in increasing government content in vernacular, develop innovative ways of providing and improving Government visibility through the medium of television;
• Monitoring of all operational allocations and management controls to ensure productivity and timely delivery of programs, messages and policies of government are widely publicized to the people of Fiji through the Audio Visual medium for which financial resources is provided for in the budget.

QUALIFICATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• A relevant Post Graduate qualification with an undergraduate Degree in Information Technology, Journalism and Media relations(specialized in Film and Television productions or equivalent);
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and alone;
• Must have more than 5 years of extensive experience in Media and Television industry;
• Understanding of Fijian Constitution 2013;
• An understanding of appropriate technical equipment and relevant editing software;
• Outstanding analytical skills and ability to absorb extract and present information in a clear and understandable way;
• Ability to handle the task related to television production with setting priorities and meeting deadlines.
• Ability to work under pressure, both within teams and individually;
• Ability to build rapport and to handle interactions with sensitivity, empathy and diplomacy, while maintaining impartiality.

Compensation: Salary Band H [$34,760.31 to $44,564.50]
