The Ministry of Economy (‘Ministry‘) is responsible for providing efficient and effective economic and financial advice to Government including management of the national economy consistent with the Government’s macroeconomic and financial objectives. The following divisions support the Ministry in the delivery of its outputs and these include: budget management services and policy formulation, effective implementation and monitoring of projects and programmes (Budget and Planning Division) accounting services (Treasury), debt management services (Debt Management), internal control and audit services (Internal Audit & Good Governance), facilitation of procurement for whole of Government (Fiji Procurement Office), implementation of Government wide financial management reforms (Financial & Policy Assurance), management of Government capital projects, quarters and office space (Construction Implementation Unit), administrative and support services (Corporate Services Division) as well as statistical compilation and dissemination (Fiji Bureau of Statistics).

The Ministry invites applications from qualified and professional candidates for the following position:

Vacancy #200/2017: Clerk B – GWE (Fiji Procurement Office - Suva)

The position reports to the Manager Procurement through the Supervising Officer.

The key responsibilities of the position include:

• Provide support in customs clearances of air freight and sea freight cargo and the general cleaning of the Logistic Premises in Walu Bay;
• Assist in preparing customs entries upon request;
• Assist in the delivery of air freight and sea freight cargo, the collection of airway bills and payment of terminal charges;
• Assist in the preparation of service charges for exports and imports and the updating of relevant registers; and
• Cleaning, Maintenance and Upkeep of the office premises and compound.

Knowledge and Experience

• A relevant logistic and or customs clearances experience and or qualification in office administration.
• At least 2 years’ practical experience working in a Logistic department of an organization.
• Basic knowledge of logistic process including customs clearances.
• Practical knowledge and experience in management of customer and stakeholder relationship.
• Understanding of the Fijian Constitution (2013) and applicable customs clearance laws of Fiji.

Skills & Abilities

• Demonstrated willingness and ability to understand and interpret guiding logistics and customs clearance processes.
• Demonstrated ability to respond to queries within a short turnaround time.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively work in a team, and with clients and stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and meet timelines.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills with high proficiency in technology use.

Applicants for employment in the Ministry of Economy must be a Fiji Citizen, under the age of 55 years, in sound health and with a clear police\record. The successful applicant will be required to provide a medical certificate and police clearance as a condition of employment.

Compensation: $5.37 hourly
