A team of eye specialists from New Zealand visited Labasa last week and surrounding communities to continue its commitments to the Lion Club of Labasa’s annual Sight First Project.

Every year the sight first project treats over 2000 patients with various eye problems with 1500 glasses dispensed and close to 100 cataracts are treated.

The two optomologists and four optometrists, who are apart of the Voluntary Opthalmic Services Overseas (VOSO), visited the Labasa Hospital, the Wanikoro Health Centre as well as Seaqaqa Health Centre.

The six member team were named "The Wilfred Colley Memorial Team".

Wilfred Colley was a founding member of VOSO and Labasa’s Sight First project and had visited Labasa

VOSO have been working with the Labasa Lions Club for 14 years to make the annual Sight First project possible.
