PRAYER AT THE OPENING OF THE NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER

Post Fiji Stadium, Suva
Sunday 15 May, 2005

Dear God,

Not to us, O Lord, but to You goes all the glory.

We depend on You. You give life and determine our days.

You make every nation and set every boundary. We exist by your power.

We should as a nation exist for Your glory. Showcase Your power through this land. Display your justice in our courts, wisdom in our government, guidance in our schools and love in our homes.

We regret our sins.

We have disobeyed Your word, disregarded your gifts and disowned Your children. We are sorry. Forgive us, dear Father.

Grant strength to all our leaders. May they serve You first and honour You most. Remind us of the brevity of this life and the life of abundance that comes from our total commitment to Your will.

This we pray in Your Holy Name. Amen.
