Foreign Ministers in trilateral meeting

A trilateral meeting of the Foreign Ministers of Australia, Fiji and New Zealand was convened in Canberra today to discuss ways at improving bilateral relations between and amongst the three countries.

They included Stephen Smith from Australia,  Ratu Inoke Kubuabola from Fiji and Murray McCully from New Zealand.

The meeting was convened under an atmosphere of frank and fruitful exchange and this opportunity to meet early in 2010 was considered by the Ministers as an important step towards resolving outstanding issues of mutual importance to the three countries.

The Ministers have agreed to meet again in the future because they viewed these meetings as both constructive and progressive in the maintenance of healthy and mutually respective bilateral relations.

Minister Kubuabola also met separately with the NZ Foreign Minister to also discuss issues of mutual interest.
