Adi Koila Nailatikau has been appointed the new Chairperson for the Constituency Boundaries Commission (CBC).

In acknowledging her acceptance of appointment, the Attorney General, Minister for Justice, Electoral Reform and Anti-Corruption, Aiyaz Sayed Khaiyum said “I am pleased to announce that His Excellency the President, Ratu Josefa Iloilovatu Uluivuda has appointed Adi Koila Nailatikau as the new Chairperson of the Constituency Boundaries Commission.”

Mr Sayed-Khaiyum said Ms Ulamila Fa-Tuituku who was recently appointed for the post had decided to withdraw, despite her confirmation prior to the appointment.

In a letter written by Ms Fa-Tuituku addressed to the Attorney General, she stated her decision to withdraw was due to family reasons.

However, Mr Sayed-Khaiyum said “We thank Ms Tuituku for initially accepting the appointment and wish her the best in her endeavours.”

Mr Sayed-Khaiyum will be meeting with the members of the CBC to facilitate their office and Secretariat in anticipation of the important work they will carry out as soon as the raw data is available from the Bureau of Statistics, concerning the census.

“We also look forward to the assistance that has been promised through the Forum Working Group in terms of providing necessary financial assistance to the CBC,” the Attorney –General concluded.
