The President of the Republic of Fiji and Tui Vuda,His Excellency, Ratu Josefa Iloilovatu is the first Chancellor of the University of Fiji.
In delivering his key address at the first graduation ceremony that was held in Lautoka today,His Excellency, Ratu Iloilo said, he was honoured to accept the position adding that the new University holds promise for Fiji as the nation strives to position itself in a rapidly globalizing knowledge society.
“I am honoured to be the first Chancellor of our University of Fiji, thank you for this honour, and my appreciation to you for such a dignified and splendid installation ceremony.
Ratu Iloilo indicated the decision to establish the University of Fiji in the vanua of Vuda marked an important highlight to the people adding that immense potential can be sourced from its people.
Ratu Josefa Iloilovatu has also been awarded the first Honorary Doctorate of the University.
