The taskforce promoting the proposed People’s Charter for Change, Peace and Progress was yesterday welcomed by the Tailevu Provincial Council where it briefed council members on the progress of work towards the formulation of the proposed charter.

Team leader, Adi Finau Tabakaucoro, advised members of the provincial council that the proposed charter will contain the submissions made by members of the public. She said it was important therefore that council members and the public at large make their submissions now so that these could be incorporated into the draft charter within the next few months.

Adi Finau re-emphasised that the proposed charter is not intended to override the country’s Constitution.

She enlightened the council on the nine working groups within the NCBBF, which are divided into three national task teams or working groups focusing specifically on Good Governance, Growing the Economy, and Social Cultural Identity/Nation Building.

About one hundred and forty villages in the province are being approached to make submissions to the proposed charter.
