| 1/7/08 - Cabinet approves Litter Promulgation 2008 |

Cabinet has approved the Litter Promulgation 2008.
Cabinet based its decision on a submission by the Minister for Labour, Industrial Relations, Local Government, Urban Development, Housing and Environment, Mr Lekh Ram Vayeshnoi.
Mr Vayeshnoi said that following Cabinet’s earlier approval of the draft Promulgation in principle, appropriate consultations were held with all relevant stakeholders, before the Promulgation was finalized.
He said that relevant authorities will now be mobilized for the implementation and enforcement of the National Initiatives of the Litter Promulgation 2008.
A Committee chaired by the Director of Environment with representation from Local Government, Central Board of Health, Fiji Police Force, Land Transport Authority and any other relevant stakeholders, will be setup to over the implementation process.
The Litter Promulgation 2008 will be effective as soon as it is gazetted following Presidential assent.
