The Minister for Education wishes to advise that classes will resume tomorrow, Friday July 4, for all schools that were affected by the bus strike this morning. The Ministry is thankful that the standoff by the Fiji Bus Operators Association has been called off to allow the normal flow of daily activities.

Today, most schools around the country are opened with teachers preparing for remedial and revisional classes. Although most schools within town areas have recorded very low attendance, teachers’ came in full force for official duties.

The Ministry extends its gratitude to all teachers who turned up to school this morning despite the news of the bus strike. These teachers are to be commended for they not only took care of students who arrived in school but also engaged students in revisional and remedial lessons.

The Ministry trusts that school principals and head teachers will ensure that lost teaching hours are recovered so as not to compromise their syllabus coverage.

Finally, the Ministry hopes that parents and guardians will assist children so that they are engaged in worthwhile activities while at home.
