Fiji Water sent home more than 500 workers as it shut down its Yaqara plant out of frustration with its prolonged dispute with the interim Government. Anxious workers and villagers expressed shock and heartbreak yesterday, worried about their future with a company which provides the pulse for this community. (FT)

Excellence is measured not only in dollars and cents but also in the well being of the community where we work and live. That's what Fiji Water believes and the fruit of that thought has borne schools, education material, kindergartens, infrastructure which includes water and electricity. Villagers from five villages that surround the water source have nothing but praise and gratitude for a company which pays a minimum wage of $4.18 an hour. (FT)

The Public Service Commission will consider reviving the permanent secretary post in the Department of Information and until then no one has been appointed to the post. PSC permanent secretary Taina Tagicakibau said "the revival of the permanent secretary post was under consideration and will be decided in due course". (FT)
