The interim Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama will be meeting with his Chinese counterparts to hold discussions on mutual and bilateral interest. The Fiji delegation led by Commodore Bainimarama includes interim Education Minister Mr Filipe Bole and senior interim government officials who are in China to witness the Beijing Olympic 2008. (FT)

DHL, the worlds leading express and logistics company, today launched DHL Volunteer Day in Asia Pacific to encourage the spirit of volunteerism among employees. As part of DHL Volunteer Day, more than 15,000 employees in over 20 countries in Asia Pacific, which includes Fiji, will jointly volunteer time and effort towards various local causes for five days that ends tomorrow. Villagers of Navosa in Sigatoka yesterday uprooted 600, 7 feet marijuana plants from a farm and will hand them over to police. Police spokeswoman Ema Mua said this was the result of the police operation Valoma Project which has been aimed at educating the villagers on the issue of drugs. (FT)

THE proposal by the People's Charter to reduce poverty to a negligible level by 2015 is nothing new, says Fiji Council of Social Services executive director Hassan Khan. Mr Khan said Government signed an undertaking in1999/2000, at the United Nations General Assembly that adopted the Millenium Development Goals. He said all the 172 member nations of UN had committed to this. (FT)
