Fijis trap shooter Glenn Kable sits midfield after the first day of qualifying at the Beijing Olympics, reports Radio Australia. The Chinese are using harder, orange targets usually reserved for the finals. The targets are leaving the bunker at pace, and on day one, this produced a low scoring round. (FT)

Fiji Taxi Union executives are appealing to the interim government and relevant authorities to look into their grievances as fuel price increased recently. The Union executives met earlier today to discuss the effect of the fuel increase on the industry. Union general secretary Rishi Ram said the increase would kill the industry. (FT)

The Fiji Independent Commission against Corruption is targeting schools to create awareness and promote its message to future workers. FICAC public relations officer Maraia Vavaitamana said most cases of misuse, bribery and corruption happened because people were not aware of the concept of corruption and so did not know how to tackle or react to the issue. (FT)

Interim Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama will visit an ethanol plant while in China to see if a similar concept can work for Fiji. A statement from the Department of Information said Commodore Bainimarama would travel to South China to visit a sugar mill manufacturing high quality paper waste and an energy recycling plant. Commodore Bainimarama and his delegation will inspect low-cost housing models prepared by Chinese companies interested in developing low cost housing in Fiji. (FT)
