The Fiji Taxi Union will await word from tomorrow's Cabinet meeting before making a decision on the effects the fuel increase has had on the industry. The union has appealed to the interim Government and the Land Transport Authority to look into their grievances. Union executives met yesterday to deliberate on the issue. (FT)

The Fiji Women's Crisis Centre says the questioning of a Fiji Times journalist by police in relation to a story she wrote is downright unacceptable. FWCC co-ordinator Shamima Ali said they described police action as such because media freedom was still alive, and secondly, the journalist in question is pregnant and was made to wait at the police station from morning until midday. From today The Fiji Times will allocate page 10 to the aims and objectives of the Yellow Ribbon Campaign. The campaign is an attempt to encourage prisoners to lead law-abiding lives when they're released back into the community after their sentences. (FT)

State owned Fiji Shipping Corporation Limited (FSCL) has appointed Simon Narayan as its chief executive officer to oversee the operations of its shipping franchise scheme. (fijilive.com)
