Even though Cabinet has decided to reduce duty on motor spirits, diesel and pre-mixed outboard fuel to cushion rising prices, the implications have yet to be realised, say providers of public transport. Cabinet yesterday agreed to the duty reduction on fuel, effective from Friday, on motor spirits from 44 to 34 cents, diesel from 18 cents to nine cents and motor spirits for blending pre-mixed outboard fuel from 27 to 17 cents per litre. The decision was based on a submission by interim Finance Minister Mahendra Chaudhry as part of the regime's fuel review exercise. (FT)
