The Methodist congregation today will open its annual conference that will also host a choir competition. The choir competition will be held in Suva. Meanwhile, police has requested that the Church abide by the rules set in their permit to hold their conference and not entertain any political activity. (FT)

The Prices and Incomes Board has announced the decrease in wholesale and retail prices of motor spirit and diesel by 12 cents and 11 cents respectively. Effective from tomorrow motor spirit will cost $2.32 per litre while diesel decreased by 11 cents will now cost $2.28 per litre. (FT)

The people of Namau in the province of Tailevu have reason to be smile after receiving their new cocoa grinding machine with a generator yesterday. The Acting Permanent Secretary for Agriculture, Dr Richard Beyer handed over a new cocoa grinding machine and to sign a memorandum of understanding with the people of Namau on behalf of the interim Prime Minister, Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama. The Keiyasi Government Station in Navosa has now been upgraded to the full district office status. The Permanent Secretary for Provincial Development and Multi Ethnic Affairs, Mr Manasa Vaniqi confirmed that the upgrading of the Keiyasi Government Station was necessary in order to strengthen the coordinating of Governments commitment and objectives to the people of Navosa. Navosa was previously administered under the District Officer in Sigatoka. (FT)

The Social Welfare Ministry is contemplating a plan to criminalise giving money to children begging on the streets. Interim Social Welfare Minister Doctor Jiko Luveni said the idea to pass such a law came about after people continued to beg on the streets with their children. (FT)
