Suraj Reddy received a standing ovation when he led his choir at the opening of the annual Methodist Church choir competition yesterday. The 17-year-old Form Five student - a Hindu and the only Indian in the 83-member choir from Levuka Public School - stepped on to the Furnival Park podium at Toorak, Suva, and was greeted by thousands of people. It was the biggest experience for the third eldest in a family of six from Ovalau. (FT)

Consumers and businesses can breathe a small sigh of relief as the price of fuel falls today. The increase last week was the sixth this year and has been described as a killer by the business community. The People's Charter for Change, Peace and Progress will in no way interfere with the Vola ni Kawa Bula (VKB). Head of Technical and Support Secretariat (TASS) John Samy said the charter would in no way affect land ownership of the natives and hence the VKB.
