The interim government is expected to make an official statement on the Fiji Labour Party decisions to step down from the regime. When contacted today, interim Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum said The Fiji Times would have to wait for an official comment. (FT)

The church should not be actively involved in politics, says outgoing Fiji Council of Churches general secretary Reverend Isireli Kacimaiwai. Mr Kacimaiwai said the church had to have its priorities right and focus on being God's servant to the people. Instead of getting involved in politics, Mr Kacimaiwai said prayer and genuine fasting were spiritual disciplines that churches had to practise to save the nation and the people from the situation citizens faced. The Housing Authority is appealing to its defaulting customers to make arrangements with them for the servicing of their loan accounts. Housing Authority chief executive officer Alipate Naiorosui said it is very critical for them to collect debt in order to continue lending and assist many more families. Mr Naiorosui said recent Mortgage Sale advertisements in the newspapers is a conventional lending practice, to recover funds. (FT)

Lelean reclaimed the Deans Trophy in style yesterday and dedicated victory to 18th century missionary Reverend John Hunt. The Nausori school demolished Ratu Kadavulevu School 20-7 in the Coke Zero Under-19 final at the National Stadium in Suva and all reserves took the field to complete their divine mission. (FT)
