Fiji has pulled out of the 39th Pacific Islands Forum Leaders meeting in Niue, blaming New Zealand for its decision. At a press conference yesterday afternoon, interim PM Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama said his government had been committed and fully prepared to participate in the Pacific Islands Forum in Niue but certain developments forced them to reconsider. The Methodist Church in Fiji's solevu and choir competition expects to collect around $750,000 to $800,000 by the end of the week, says assistant general secretary Reverend Tuikilakila Waqairatu. He said they expected to collect this amount from the annual levy from the 51 divisions and the choir competition. (FT)
