The singing of the National Anthem set the pace for the opening of the ANZ Fiji Tourism Forum 2008 at the Sofitel Fiji Resort and Spa.

With the Theme “Tourism –Managing Change Together”, the Chief Guest at the Forum Minister for Industry, Tourism and Communication, Mr Aiyaz Sayed- Khaiyum said that Tourism is an integral part of Fiji’s economy and it cannot operate in isolation.

“It would be not right to argue how important Tourism is to this country,” Mr Sayed-Khaiyum said.

Speaking to resource owners, hoteliers, airline representatives and other stakeholders he added that Government is committed to the reformation of policies in all sectors to create a positive impact.

He reiterated that it is time to expand source markets of our Tourism industry, with better connectivity to countries like Singapore and government would engage constructively to pursue this.

Today’s Forum consists of a wide range of discussions in relation to Fiji’s move towards its target with the 2007-2016 strategic plan.
