Critics of the Peoples Charter are building a culture of suspicion, abuse, character assassination and vilification, says interim PM Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama. In sharp contrast, there are those who opted to be nothing but negative, who continue to make ill-informed and misguided criticism from the sidelines, and who are doing their utmost to undermine the Peoples Charter process, he said at the launching of the Charter on Monday night in Suva. The feedback to the NCBBF and the Peoples Charter has been much more positive than what is portrayed by the media, interim Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama said on Monday night while launching the Charter. There has been much also by way of misinformation intended to portray that there is resistance or a lack of support for the Peoples Charter process, he said. (FT)

Ann Cooper lives in Laguna Beach, California which is about 8750 kilometres away from Fiji. Yet she has initiated a kindergarten project in Vanua Levu which has two pre-schools in Vunikura and Nawi for 64 children between the ages of four and six. The faith-based project The Fiji Kinde Project - has been running since 2007 and she has plans to open up a third kindergarten in Loa when she returns to Fiji in September. (FT)

The date of the elections is one that people of Fiji and the interim Government should determine. Interim Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama said it should not be preached by those outside Fiji. He made the comment at the launch of the People's Forum last night. Commodore Bainimarama said much has been said about the March 2009 election date. (FT)
