A MEMBER of the National Council for Building a Better Fiji says the response form given to people to fill in is simple.
Jone Dakuvula, a representative of the Citizens Constitutional Forum and a NCBBF member, made the comment after concerns were raised by residents of a settlement in Navua on not being given enough time to read the draft People's Charter and fill in their response.

THE Health Ministry has set up a committee to draw up an awareness program targeting dengue fever. Health permanent secretary Lepani Waqatakirewa confirmed the committee met yesterday to strategise against the outbreak of the disease. Meanwhile, statistics on patients treated at health centres around the country will be sent to the ministry. (FT)

THE National Fire Authority, in an bid to inform people about fire safety, will run a week-long campaign towards the end of this month. NFA corporate affairs officer Mileta Ting said this would be a first ever approach by the authority as a result of the rise in the number of fires. The NFA is in the process of compiling this year's statistics and these are expected to be released soon. (FT)

FIJI'S Ambassador to China James Ah Koy will accompany representatives from Guanxgi Province later this month to follow up on ethanol developments in the country. National Bio Fuel Strategic Committee chairman Viliame Yabakivou said the tour would be a follow-up to a recent visit to China by committee members - director of energy Viliame Vosarogo, agriculture permanent secretary Dr Richard Beyer and Joape Waqabaca. Mr Yabakivou said they visited two state-owned ethanol plants which produce 50,000 tonnes of ethanol from cassava from Veitnam. (FT)

COMMONWEALTH special representative Sir Paul Reeves was never part of the panel suggested by President Ratu Josefa Iloilo to the Commonwealth, says interim Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum. In a letter to the secretary general of the Commonwealth, Mr Sayed-Khaiyum said the President suggested the names of former Commonwealth general secretary Don McKinnon, constitutional lawyer Professor Yash Ghai and former PNG Prime Minister Rabbi Namaliu.
