Fiji will participate in the upcoming Forum meeting organised by Papua New Guinea's Prime Minister Sir Michael Somare. This was confirmed by the interim Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum. Mr Sayed-Khaiyum said the only reason the interim Government delegation did not attend the last Pacific Islands Forum Leaders meeting in Niue was because Fiji's delegation was not granted visas to attend the bilateral meeting in New Zealand. The Colonial War Memorial Hospital is expected to receive new parts for various faulty machines due to arrive in the country next week. Ministry of Health, acting Permanent Secretary Dr Tima Tuiketei confirmed the new parts for the suction machine and the faulty CT scan machine is expected to arrive next week. (FT)

The Fiji Times Online scooped three awards last night at the Fiji Media Awards for Excellence (FAME) where the media and advertising industry's best were honoured. The Fiji Times Online was awarded best local news/information media-based website, best local blog to its sister website Sotia Central and best commercial based website to Fiji Times Online's- My Fiji Guide. Regional manufacturer Punjas has welcomed the announcement of a government experiment with 49 varieties of wheat. Spokesman Nitin Punja said it would be good for farmers if the experiment at Legalega Research Station is successful. The Primary Industries Ministry said it brought in 49 varieties of wheat from the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Centre in Mexico and was testing its ability to grow in Fiji's tropical climate.
