The tourism industry recorded an 8.9 per cent growth in visitor arrivals last year. Visitor arrival numbers ending November last year was 532,561. Tourism Fiji chairman, Patrick Wong says the targeted forecast for last year was 571,000, a five per cent growth from 2007. (FT)

A tourism marketing sub-committee will embark on an aggressive campaign beginning this month targeting travel for the first half of the year. The committee comprising of representatives from Tourism Fiji, Fiji Islands Hotel Tourism Association and Air Pacific are working with wholesale partners in major source markets. (FT)

Spiritual development is one of the Fiji Police Force's goals in the New Year. Inspector Simione Bale of Community Policing in the North said spiritual development of officers to guide the spiritual development of the community had been identified as a more permanent solution to crimes. He made the comment while accepting 22 bibles from Captain Veu Jare of the Salvation Army in Labasa. (FT)
