The President, Ratu Josefa Iloilovatu has shown extreme disappointment at the lack of support that has been shown by Fiji’s traditional development partners.
Speaking at today’s opening of the National Council for Building a Better Fiji, His Excellency pointed out that as of date none of Fiji’s traditional development partners have come forward to extend any financial or technical support for work on the Peoples Charter.
Adding that this would only heighten the nature of challenges the nation will continue to face.
“Given the strategic importance and the magnitude of this undertaking our capacity to move forward as expeditiously as earlier planned, under the severe limitations of resources will be constrained.”
However he pleaded for good sense to prevail indicating that if all leaders were to unite and place the best interest of the nation to heart this would than see a change for the better.
“As members of the National Council for Building a Better Fiji,I bestow upon you my trust and confidence, for this mammoth and very important national task, I sincerely believe and trust, that, at the end of this undertaking, we will be enriched, rewarded, satisfied and also proud that through our collective effort,we will have contributed effectively in helping shape Fiji’s future,” his Excellency the President said.
