State seeks stay of GCC Judicial Review

The Judicial Review application filed by the former members of the Great Council of Chiefs (Applicants) seeking to challenge the regulations made by the Minister for Indigenous Affairs was called for mention before Justice Thomas Hickie at 9.30am today.
The State informed the Court that it would file an application for a stay of proceedings.
The Court has agreed to hear the application by the State first and has directed that the State file its application for stay with supporting affidavits in 14 days.
The Applicants have also been given time to file their affidavits in response by 10 June 2008.
The matter has been adjourned for mention on 30 June 2008 at 9.30am.
