The Soqosoqo Duavata ni Lewenivanua party has declared its availability to engage in a proposed political forum. Party director Peceli Kinivuwai made the comment after a meeting with the Commonwealth secretary-general's special representative to Fiji, Sir Paul Reeves, yesterday. (FT)

The Fiji Bus Operators Association has refused the interim Government's proposal for a 10 per cent direct subsidy on fuel, and instead has declared a nationwide strike today. And last night, interim Transport Minister Timoci Natuva said parents should not send their children to school today and tomorrow "because there's no guarantee of bus services". A statement from the FBOA said its decision was reached in a meeting yesterday. (FT)

The EU mission in Fiji has declined to respond to a statement by interim Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed Khaiyum against the list of people the mission was supposed to meet. Mr Sayed Khaiyum said the list was biased. The EU legal mission is an extensixon of the EU Troika mission that left Suva left last week. (FT)

A vegetable farming initiative for the rehabilitation of prisoners at Naboro Prison is helping inmates earn money as they serve their terms. The Pre-Release Centre houses 31 inmates, nine of whom are involved in vegetable farming.
Centre officer-in-charge Watisoni Rokoyadre said inmates selected for the garden project had to write to the Commissioner of Prisons informing him of their interest. This had to be backed by a recommendation from prison officers. (FT)
