The Technical Vocational Education Training sector believes it is important to remove the stigma attached to it. Director TVET Josefa Natau made the comment at a two-day workshop on using TVET to extend the education frontier at JJ's on the Park Hotel in Suva yesterday. Mr Natau said the aim of the workshop was to create awareness among the stakeholders on the importance of vocational education in Fiji and to help remove the stigma. (FT)

About $8million has been spent on the maintenance and upgrade of all roads in the Northern Division this year, according to the Public Works Department. Divisional road engineer Temo Vosaki said there was a lot of criticism levelled at the department for poor road conditions but the public failed to realise that so much had been spent repairing roads. More than 200 jobs will be created as a result of Flour Mills of Fiji's decision to go ahead with certain investments which it had put on hold. FMF chief executive Sanjay Punja said the investment was worth $10million. (FT)
