Have faith in government - Minister asks members

The Assistant Minister for Women, Social Welfare and Poverty Alleviation Losena Salabula has strongly urged members of Parliament to seriously consider the comments made by His Excellency the President Ratu Josefa Iloilo's speech on Government's urgent need for the nation to move forward.

Ms Salabula made the comment in parliament during her opening speech in the August session of the House of Representatives.

"His Excellency the President articulated with great concern on strengthening national unity and stability, the President of our nation uttered with passion the following and I quote,

"Strengthening the foundation of national unity and stability is at the heart of the Governments mission.
It is for this high national purpose that Government has introduced the Reconciliation, Tolerance and Unity Bill."

"His Excellency further emphasised his gratitude for the democratic process allowing all sections of society to express their views on the proposed legislation," the Assistant Minister added.

Ms Salabula highlighted that there was also an urgent need for leaders and members of the community to have faith in the leadership of the Government.

"To all my brothers and sisters who are citizens of Fiji and also call Fiji the motherland I appeal to you all to have the confidence in the Government of the day, particularly in the trusted leadership of our Honourable Prime Minister.

The Assistant Minister indicated that the Reconciliation Bill needed to be read in its totality and be fully understood since Government has and is working tirelessly towards the prosperity of the nation.

No one is excluded, our Government is always inclusive

"I appeal to you ll to trust our Government and our stable leadership. Let me assure you my brothers and sisters, your Government has been caring for you and always will,"she said.

"The reconciliation Tolerance and Unity Bill is for all of us who call Fiji our home and motherland.
It is also the home for foreign investors, tourists and all others," Salabula added.
