The Fiji Government is actively enhancing productivity through various initiatives, including addressing labor shortages, modernising policies, and diversifying the economy.
The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade, Cooperatives, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, and Communications, Hon. Manoa Kamikamica DPM said this at the opening of the 65th Workshop Meeting of Heads of National Productivity Organisations (65th WSM) at Sofitel Resort, Nadi this morning.
Emphasising the critical role of productivity in economic growth, the Deputy Prime Minister highlighted that productivity is a primary driver of GDP per capita across countries.
“Fiji Government is actively enhancing productivity through various initiatives, including addressing labor shortages, modernising policies, and diversifying the economy,” said the Deputy Prime Minister.
He noted ongoing partnerships with investors in sectors like agriculture and technology, and the Government’s commitment to upskilling the workforce.
DPM Kamikamica proposed establishing a national Productivity Commission in Fiji, inspired by successful models in other countries, to conduct research and provide tailored policy solutions.
He urged all APO members to strengthen their commitment to collaborative productivity efforts, fostering a brighter future for the Pacific.
