Minister for Women, Children, and Social Protection, Hon. Lynda Tabuya, met with Women Deliver CEO, Ms. Maliha Khan, to discuss plans for the 2026 Women Deliver Conference.
The meeting, held in Bangkok during the Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference on the Beijing +30 review, focused on creating a platform to amplify the voices of Pacific women and girls, promote gender equality, and address global issues affecting women, including climate change and disaster risk reduction in the Pacific.
Women Deliver is a leading global advocacy organisation dedicated to advancing gender equality and improving the health, rights, and well-being of girls and women. Women Deliver Conferences since its 1st convening in 2007 has tried to promote a robust civic space for feminist action, organising, and mobilisation by creating space for critical dialogue, knowledge sharing, and networking. Minister Tabuya and Permanent Secretary Ms. Eseta Nadakuitavuki were part of the last 6th Women Deliver Conference that was held in Kigali, Rwanda, on the 17-20 July 2023.
Minister Tabuya reaffirmed Fiji’s commitment to supporting the conference and advancing women’s rights, saying, “We’re excited to work with Women Deliver on this significant event that will shape the future of gender equality, especially for the Pacific region.”
This meeting is an important milestone in preparing for the conference with plans to be convened in Melbourne, Australia, reflecting a shared vision of a more inclusive and equitable world.
