Ambassador of the Republic of Fiji to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), His Excellency Siddiq Faizal Riyad Koya, presented his credentials to the President of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Ambassador Koya conveyed the best wishes of the President of the Republic of Fiji, His Excellency Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu, and the people of Fiji to the UAE President and the people of the UAE for their continued success and prosperity.

The UAE is an important development partner for Fiji, with cooperation in key areas such as trade, economic development, climate change, and disaster rehabilitation.

Ambassador Koya underscored Fiji’s commitment to deepening relations with the UAE in strategic areas of interest to both nations. He expressed optimism that Fiji’s mission based in Abu Dhabi, UAE, will scale new heights in our collaboration with the UAE as with development partners across the globe. As part of its role, the Mission provides consular services to the Fijian nationals residing in or visiting the Middle East.

During the ceremony held at Qasr Al Watan in Abu Dhabi, UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed welcomed Ambassador Koya and other newly appointed envoys from various countries and wished them well as they work to strengthen the diplomatic relations and cooperation of their respective countries with the UAE. Further, the President assured them of the full support of the UAE authorities to facilitate their work and ensure their missions operate effectively.

As articulated in our Foreign Policy White Paper, Fiji aims to strengthen its regional and international partnerships as a way to navigate through existing multidimensional challenges. Conversely, Fiji’s position in the region provides opportunities for stewardship of regional investment, environmental conservation, connectivity, and support systems that enable us to optimise new trade opportunities and promote sustainable socio-economic growth through strengthened relations and partnerships with important development partners such as the UAE.
