Cakova Village, Moala— In a concerted effort to ensure equitable access to healthcare for all Fijians, the Ministry of Health and Medical Services recently conducted a comprehensive outreach program in Cakova Village, Moala.
This initiative is part of the Ministry’s broader commitment to providing proper health services to communities in Fiji’s maritime islands. The outreach was led by Medical Officer Naroi, Dr. Fifita Niulevu, who coordinated the delivery of essential healthcare services to the community.
The team provided medical consultations, check-ups, and dental care, ensuring that villagers had access to critical health services. Additionally, a public health team from Lakeba joined the outreach, advocating for HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention.
Through interactive sessions, the team provided vital information on HIV/AIDS prevention, testing, and treatment, emphasising the importance of reducing stigma and encouraging early diagnosis. The purpose of the visit was to bridge the gap in healthcare access for maritime communities.
By bringing these services directly to villages like Cakova, we can address pressing health needs and empower residents with the knowledge and resources to manage their health. The outreach program allowed villagers to address their health concerns, receive preventative care guidance, and benefit from early detection and treatment of medical conditions.
Health education sessions also covered proper hygiene, dental care, and overall wellness practices. The Ministry of Health and Medical Services remains committed to delivering healthcare services to maritime and remote communities as part of its mission to achieve universal health coverage across Fiji.
The team will be visiting other villages in Moala.
