Parliament has passed the Child Care and Protection Bill 2024 that seeks to promote the well-being of children and to protection them from all forms of violence, abuse, neglect and exploitation.
This act acknowledges the role of parents, families and communities in promoting the well-being and protection of children and to encourage and support them in carrying out that role.
The act also fosters collaboration between government agencies, non-governmental organisations, faith-based organisations and traditional or community leaders engaged in the provision of services designed to promote the wellbeing and protection of children; and provide for the care and protection of children in circumstances where their parents, families and communities are unable to do so
