People living along the Suva-Nausori corridor will now have easier access to Immigration services following the official opening of the new Nakasi Immigration Office.
The new office was opened by the Minister for Immigration, Hon. Viliame Naupoto, today, with the Minister stressing that the facility was not simply about opening another Government office, but about bringing immigration services closer to the people.
“This occasion marks an important milestone, not only for the Ministry of Immigration, but more importantly for the people we serve.”
He said the establishment of the Nakasi office reflected Government’s commitment to ensuring public services were delivered in an efficient, accessible and convenient manner.
The office will provide key immigration services, including passport applications and citizenship services.
While many citizenship services are now available online, passport applications still require applicants to appear in person for identity verification and the collection of biometric data.
Minister Naupoto said Nakasi was selected because of its strategic location between Suva and Nausori and its development into a major commercial and service hub serving communities throughout the densely populated corridor.
He also placed strong emphasis on the standard of service expected from officers working at the new facility.
“Every individual who walks through these doors deserves to be treated with dignity, respect, courtesy, and professionalism,” he said.
“Each customer comes to us with a need, and it is our responsibility to listen carefully, respond effectively, and provide the highest standard of service.”
The Nakasi office is one of two new Immigration offices being commissioned during the current financial year, with the second office in Rakiraki nearing completion.
The Ministry also plans to establish additional offices in Sigatoka on Viti Levu and Nabouwalu on Vanua Levu, as part of efforts to bring immigration services closer to communities across Fiji.
Minister Naupoto said the opening represented the strengthening of the Ministry’s commitment to serving the people of Fiji and ensuring Fijians access immigration services closer to their communities.
