CABINET APPROVES MOU WITH THINK PACIFIC FOR YOUTH DEVELOPMENT

Cabinet has approved a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Think Pacific and the Ministry of Youth and Sports for Cooperation in the field of Youth Development.

Think Pacific is a United Kingdom based organization which provides funding, planning and logistical support to local partners in Fiji to enable them to achieve specific development objectives.

Think Pacific has successfully implemented community and village programs and projects in Fiji since 2009.

Cabinet based its decision on a submission by the Minister for Youth and Sports, Commander Viliame Naupoto.

The Minister said that collaboration with Think Pacific will assist the Ministry of Youth and Sports reach out effectively to the greater youth populous and address the eight thematic areas of concern as highlighted in the National Youth Policy.

The provision of necessary support, resources and funding by Think Pacific will further assist in youth empowerment and development.

Youth population in Fiji accounts to approximately 44.5% of Fiji’s population (15-35 years). Youth Development according to the National Youth Policy has been mainstreamed into the various focal areas of national development.
