FIJIANS HAVE VISA FREE ENTRY INTO ARGENTINA

Fiji and Argentina have enjoyed over 40 years of diplomatic relations and to mark this growing relationship both countries signed the “Agreement on Waiver of Transitory Visas for Holders of Ordinary Passport”, on 22nd September, 2017.

Following the signing, both countries have completed all domestic processes and procedures and the Agreement will come into effect on 10th January 2018.

Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Ioane Naivalurua said “the visa free entry of Fijians into Argentina and vice versa will encourage increase in opportunities for trade, investment, sports particularly rugby and tourism”.

“The visa free entry into Argentina will encourage Fijian businesses to explore possibilities for expanding business and trade to South America. This will also encourage visits by sporting teams and tourism activities between both countries thus, solidifying cultural and people-to-people relationship.

“The visa free entry into Argentina is another milestone achievement for the Fijian Government and further strengthens Fiji – Argentina bilateral relationship and enhances Fiji’s foreign policy to reach out to all the all corners of the world and consolidate on Fiji’s position as the hub of the Pacific.”

Mr Naivalurua also thanked the Argentine Government for their support and cooperation in opening their borders to Fijians.

Argentine Ambassador to Fiji His Excellency Hugo Javier Gobbi stated, “It is the first bilateral agreement and shows the recent development in our bilateral relations. The agreement creates stronger bonds of friendship between the two countries and provides further opportunities for tourism, trade and investments.”

Fijians wishing to travel to Buenos Aires, Argentina, could easily connect from Auckland, New Zealand.
