MULTI FAITH NATIONAL SERVICE OF REMEMBRANCE AND THANKSGIVING TO COMMEMORATE THE ANNIVERSARY OF TC WINSTON

18/02/2017

Monday (20 February) is the first anniversary of Tropical Cyclone Winston, which slammed into Fiji with peak intensity on 20 February, 2016, killing 44 of our loved ones and causing widespread devastation.

His Excellency the President, Major General Jioji Konrote (retired) invites all Fijians to a solemn event to remember those who died and give thanks that Winston spared much of the rest of Fiji.

Representatives from some of the worst affected communities around the nation will be present at the service.

The venue is the Albert Park Pavilion, Suva. The service will commence at 11.00am and those attending are asked to be seated by 10.45 am.

His Excellency requests employers to enable as many Fijians as possible to attend this important event. But it is not a national holiday and employees are asked to return to their workplaces after the service has ended.

An informal reception to honour representatives from the affected areas will be held after the service has concluded.
