New EU-funded dormitory for Ratu Kadavulevu School

160 students of Cakau House at Ratu Kadavulevu School will today move into their new double-storey dormitory, all thanks to the European Union’s assistance of $679,943.00.

The dormitory, which was built by the Public Works Department, is furnished with 40 double bunks and mattresses on each floor. Installed in the dormitory are fire extinguishers, hoses and fire detectors.

Extra work, which were not included in its scoping works, was funded by the Ministry of Education. This included relocation of drying shed, tiling of toilet and bathroom, water tank and a booster pump. All these was worth $19,652.00.

The European Union handed over the keys to the Education Ministry today at 9am and representing the Ministry, is Mr Jimione Buwawa, the Deputy Secretary Education- Primary/Secondary.

The Ministry of Education is greatly indebted to the European Union for their continuous support for education in Fiji.

This morning’s function was witnessed by students, teachers, parents and supporters of the school.
