Fiji's digital infrastructure received a significant boost today (3.02.25) with the arrival of four Bulikula Subsea Cables.

Of the four new cable connections, two will be in Suva and two in Natadola, which will enhance international connectivity by linking Fiji directly to the United States, Australia, Japan, and South America via subsea cables.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade Cooperatives, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, and Communication, Hon. Manoa Kamikamica, joined by representatives from the land-owning unit, FNPF, Google team, and other key stakeholders, welcomed the arrival of the Bulikula Subsea Cable in Natadola today.

DPM Kamikamica highlighted the strong partnership between the Fiji Government, Google, and all involved parties.

"This project highlights the confidence global partners have in Fiji. The continued progress of this project demonstrates our nation’s commitment to enhancing digital connectivity and economic growth."

“We look forward to seeing how Google’s work in Fiji continues to evolve, and we are grateful to all partners, including the land-holding unit and stakeholders, for their support," DPM Kamikamica said.

The landing of a subsea cable, deployed by Google as part of their project in Fiji, reinforces the country’s position as a regional digital hub of the Pacific.

Google’s project in Fiji is set to enhance Fiji’s digital infrastructure, further strengthening Fiji’s global connectivity and economic opportunities.

The Fiji Government is committed to enhancing its digital landscape and fostering economic growth through improved technological infrastructure and is appreciative of all those involved in this project.
