BATIWALE IS THE COMMISSIONER FOR ONLINE SAFETY COMMISSION FIJI

The Ministry of Trade, Co-operatives, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, and Communications is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Filipe Batiwale as the new Commissioner for the Online Safety Commission Fiji, effective immediately.

Mr. Batiwale is a dedicated senior lawyer with a current practicing certificate in Australia, specialising in commercial law, cyber law, and digital asset protection. With a strategic blend of experience gained from esteemed global and national law firms, Mr. Batiwale brings over seven [7] years of experience in cyber law and digital asset protection, making him an invaluable addition to the Commission.
 
“Today, we are proud to welcome Mr. Filipe Batiwale to the Online Safety Commission,” said the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade Cooperatives, Micro, SMEs, and Communication, Hon. Manoa Kamikamica.

“Mr. Batiwale’s expertise in online safety and commitment to protecting the digital rights of all users will further our mission to create a safer internet for everyone.”
 
Mr. Batiwale is a seasoned lawyer with a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Canterbury that complements his practical knowledge in both commercial law and cyber law. His qualifications and work experience make him ideally suited to help guide the OSC in its efforts to address the evolving challenges of online safety.
 
The Online Safety Commission is dedicated to improving online safety standards and fostering an environment where technology can be used responsibly and safely. He will play a key role in shaping policies, enhancing educational initiatives, and advocating for better protections for online users.
