Young Fijians in the Northern division turned out in numbers in Labasa to honour the International Youth Day celebration yesterday (10/08/22).
Minister for Youth and Sports, Parveen Kumar Bala, while officiating at the event, said every year, the International Youth Day Celebration aims to inspire the younger generation to come up with innovative ideas and plans leading toward sustainable development.
“The 2022 edition of International Youth Day is somewhat different, unique and I feel is totally relevant to our lives today,” Minister Bala said.
“This year we are not only recognising the achievements of usual definitions of youth but integrating it with engagements with people of all ages from all walks of life.”
Youth participants came from three provinces of Bua, Macuata, and Cakaudrove in the Northern Division.
Also present was the representative from the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF) Ms Yumiko Shinya.
