FANCA CELEBRATES 25TH SILVER JUBILEE

17/08/2022

Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum attended the 25th Fiji, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and USA (FANCA) Silver Jubilee banquet dinner held at the Sofitel Resort and Spa in Nadi last night (16/08/22).

In his remarks, the A-G acknowledged the founders of FANCA for their vision some years ago since its inception in 1997, emphasizing the significance and importance of such events, as they provide the opportunity for Fijians who have migrated abroad to visit families and friends in Fiji during the tournament.

The FANCA Nations World Cup takes place every two years in different countries, offering Fijians the opportunity to reconnect with their families and friends in a social and sporting environment, but they were cancelled in 2020 when New Zealand was given the right to host.

President of FANCA, Mohammed Yusuf, highlighted this year’s event is expected to be the biggest ever in terms of teams, as 19 teams will compete in 4 divisions, as well as 2000 visitors from these four countries.

Throughout the 5-day tournament, the action will be live-streamed in full HD on a pay-per-view basis all over the world. This will allow anyone who is unable to attend the event to catch all the action right from their living room or any smart device.
