In a significant move towards revitalising Kadavu, Minister for Policing Hon. Ioane Naivalurua embarked on a visit to the island, aiming to spearhead a new development agenda for the region.
His visit was accompanied by a team from various government agencies focused on raising awareness about economic empowerment, welfare, and security in Kadavu.
Minister Naivalurua's tour commenced from Vunisea, followed by Tavuki, Kavala Government Station, Kavala Village, and Tiliva, and will conclude at Solodavui Village. Each location provided an opportunity for the Minister and his team to engage with local communities, listen to their concerns, and share plans for future development.
The overarching goal of Minister Naivalurua’s visit is to formulate a comprehensive development plan tailored to Kadavu’s unique needs. This initiative aligns with the Government’s broader commitment to improving services and infrastructure in rural maritime communities, fostering sustainable growth, and enhancing the quality of life for residents.
Minister Naivalurua emphasised that the visit reflects a collective effort to rebrand Kadavu and drive positive change.
"Our mission is to bring new opportunities and ensure that Kadavu benefits from growth that is inclusive and sustainable. This is a step towards a brighter future for the island and its people," he said.
The Government’s outreach aims to solidify Kadavu's role in Fiji’s development landscape, with the hope of unlocking its potential and ensuring that development benefits reach even the most remote communities.
As the visit concludes, local leaders and residents look forward to ongoing collaboration and the realisation of new initiatives to uplift Kadavu further.
