06/12/2019

By confronting the challenges of health, by volunteering for health and education awareness you can help in progressing Government’s agenda in the development of human capital and minimizing unemployment.

These were the words of advice by the Minister for Youth and Sports, Hon. Parveen Kumar Bala to the new Fiji Youth Council Executive Committee that was introduced during the council’s meeting this afternoon at the Suva Civic Centre.

Minister Kumar encouraged the youth leaders to be bold in addressing issues and to contribute to national solution.

“We must intensify the campaigns of youth economic participation by developing their skills,” he added.

“These appointments have been made with a lot of thought and with a view to having on board youth leaders who can make a difference.”

“A difference that will greatly impact the policies, programs and deliverables, not only for your fellow youth, but will also contribute towards nation building.”

Minister Bala added that the appointments were important because they will carry the hopes and aspirations for the youth and nation.

“As youth representatives you must always remain apolitical, you must seize the opportunities of democracy and take responsibility for all youth regardless of ethnicity, religion or creed.”

“The main responsibility of our youth council is to actively build the capacity of every youth structure in Fiji, and in doing so, to be the true representative of the youths of our society in an inclusive manner.”

Minister Bala congratulated all the selected members as they will now be part of the largest youth body in Fiji.
