His Excellency, the President, Ratu Wiliame Katonivere reviewed a 100 men Guard of Honor mounted by members of the RFMF stationed at the Multi-National Forces and Observers (MFO) South Camp in Sinai.

In the course of his inaugural visit to our forces in the Middle East, His Excellency was received at the Sharm El-Sheikh International airport by the South Sinai Governor, Major General Khaled Fouda, and informed of the preparations for the 27th Conference of the Parties, which will be held in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt from November 7th to 18th.

Later on, while addressing the men and women of the RFMF, President Katonivere reiterated his message for self-development with a vision for professional growth, especially for the younger members of the force.

“Our forces have been serving here in Sinai for 40 years and the good work put in by those that have served before you have contributed to the superb records of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces.”

“While you uphold our good records, be mindful of your personal developments which will also be beneficial to the lives of your families back home. Have a lot of wisdom and plan your future well as it will augur well for your career, be it in the military or in other fields you venture to,” said President Katonivere.

“We are living in a world that is changing every day. There are threats of war, climate change, and other factors that dictate our everyday lives and I urge you all to adapt to the situation as they present themselves and learn from them.”

Additionally, the Head of State thanked the troops for their commitment, as most of them could not say goodbye to their families when they were deployed due to COVID restrictions.

Meanwhile, MFO Force Commander, Major General Evan Williams, while briefing His Excellency on the operations at the South Camp commended our forces, particularly for their commitment, loyalty, respect for command, and most of all their joviality.
