WEST HONOURS INTERNATIONAL YOUTH DAY

10/08/2022

Solidarity among generations is going to be a key focus for the Fijian Government as it moves forward with national and global challenges.

This was highlighted by the Minister for Youth and Sports, Parveen Kumar Bala, while officiating at the pre-celebrations for International Youth Day held at Dratabu Village in Nadi yesterday (09/08/22).

The 2022 International Youth Day, which will officially be commemorated on the 12th of August, is focused on the theme of “Intergenerational Solidarity: Creating A World For All Ages.”

Minister Bala said the celebrations provide one with a great platform to highlight the strengths of intergenerational solidarity that exists in Fiji, and among many other Pacific Islands.

He added that intergenerational solidarity appeals to consensus building and engagement within generations in society.

The youth participants also joined the Minister for Youth and Sports in a tree planting exercise.

The Ministry of Youth and Sports also launched a week-long event of celebrations to take place in all four divisions.
