- I am pleased to welcome you all this evening as you join me in welcoming to Fiji the Executive Director for UNICEF, Ms Catherine Russell.
- Ms. Russell’s visit to Fiji and the region re-affirms our mutual commitment maintain an enduring partnership with UNICEF, that works towards providing equal opportunities, access and a conducive environment for every child in Fiji and across the Pacific to be able to reach their full potential in life.
- I wish to acknowledge and commend UNICEF’s continued support to Fiji through targeted programmes aligning with Government’s commitment on childcare and welfare in Fiji, and the provision of humanitarian and relief assistance, technical support during some of our most challenging times.
- Fiji is committed to strengthening its partnership with UNICEF and addressing shared priorities to create an inclusive and sustainable future for the present and future generations. In doing so, we also hold ourselves accountable in measuring our progress and setting the course for addressing gaps and opportunities for improvement.
- With those few words, once again Ms. Russell, I thank you for visiting Fiji and our region and I wish you all the best in your engagements.
